Okiem Maleny

Okiem Maleny

When I travel I’m looking for breathtaking views and amazing local food. I slept in jungle, I passed Annapurna Bace Camp (ABC) trek but it doesn’t mean that I’m not lover of different monuments and climates, cosy cities. You know… I’m a zodiacal Twins :)

About Okiem Maleny:

“Okiem Maleny” means Malena’s View Point and Malena’s Snapshot. I travel in my own rhythm with my paper notebook, camera and my old lucky teddybear.
It’s very important to me to promote responsible tourism. I also want to inspire people to explore the world and fulfil dreams about traveling on your own. I try to show well known places as they are in reality – without faux colouring.
What is the most valuable for me in travel? Becoming an invisible observer of the world which I enter. I like to get to know the culture of the country I am going to, to observe the rhythm of street life and everyday life. I always say that the best way to get to know a new place is getting lost in it.
I prefer historic, atmospheric cities to modern, big metropolises. Mountains and the sea are my element. I love to rest actively – going kilometres sightseeing and photographing, riding around on a bike or going trekking.
Traveling for me is also exploring new flavors. Trying local cuisine for me is inseparable part of the trip. I even tried a cockroach. Bon appetite!
