A few weeks ago a couple of Polish travel bloggers took off to Slovakia on an amazing press trip ‘Slovak Paradise by Train’ organized by the Slovak Tourist Board (SACR) and Košice Region Turizmus, the tourism agency of Košice region, situated in eastern Slovakia, close to the border with Hungary.
Starting at Warsaw airport, they boarded the LOT Polish Airlines flight connecting Warsaw with Košice in 45 minutes only. This comfortable flight is a perfect way to get to Košice in a blink of an eye!
The whole press trip was dedicated to train lovers, combining amazing train rides with fantastic local food and beautiful landscapes of the Košice region. The tourism agency did a great job allowing the bloggers to experience the best that Košice region has to offer along with remarkable Slovakian hospitality.
A couple of Polish travel bloggers are really interested in traveling by train, but those who went on the press trip to Košice region are definitely train travel freaks! Kamila, the author of Kami and the rest of the world, Paweł, writing Notatki z podróży – Osmol.pl and Jo, co-author of 4ever Moments, representing the Polish Travel Blogs, have a lot of train travel experience in many countries across the world, they were great companions and a perfect fit for the train lovers press trip.
The press trip focused on discovering the beauty of Slovak Paradise National Park, Košice region and Košice city itself – all viewed from a seat on the train. Slovakia has so much to offer, yet still many tourists traveling across Europe skip this beautiful country in their itineraries. Kamila, Paweł and Jo went to Košice to change it! This region truly is an undiscovered gem and it’s time to show it to the world. It’s time to rediscover Slovakia!
The program od the press trip provided for many fantastic attractions such as touring Košice at night, visiting Slovakia’s oldest restaurant, tasting amazing regional cuisine, riding the vintage steam powered train and ‘Motorak 810’ train privately owned by Prievidzský Parostrojný spolok, just to name a few. The highlights included spotting the trains going through the largest rail hub ‘Margecany’ and walking through the old train tunnel.
The bloggers photographed train stations surrounded by stunning mountains, old train bridges around Telgart Pension, unforgatable train rides and the biggest vintage steam train ‘Papagaj’ in Poprad Depo. They took the scenic route on the edge of Slovak Paradise and met a lot of lovely people who shared their true rail passion with them.
